Wedding Venues in Roswell, Georgia: Historic Charm Meets Southern Elegance
Roswell has a certain magic when it comes to weddings. The historic homes, the manicured gardens, the walkable downtown along Canton Street — there’s an elegance here that feels effortless. If you’re planning a wedding in Roswell, you’ve already got great taste.
I’ve coordinated weddings throughout the North Atlanta area, and Roswell consistently stands out for the quality of its venues and the charm of the setting. Here’s what you should know about getting married in one of Georgia’s most beautiful historic cities.
Why couples love Roswell
Roswell sits along the Chattahoochee River about 25 miles north of downtown Atlanta, which gives you the best of both worlds — a charming small-town feel with big-city accessibility. Guests traveling from across the metro area or flying into Hartsfield-Jackson can get here easily, while still feeling like they’ve escaped the city for the weekend.
The historic district is a big part of the draw. Canton Street is lined with restaurants, boutiques, and galleries, making it easy for guests to explore before or after your event. The antebellum homes along Mimosa Boulevard — several of which are now event venues — give the area a sense of history that adds real depth to your wedding photos.
And then there’s the river. The Chattahoochee winds through Roswell, offering waterfront settings and observation decks that make for unforgettable ceremony backdrops. It’s a combination you don’t find everywhere — historic Southern charm, walkable dining, and natural beauty all within a few blocks of each other.
Venues worth knowing about
Roswell has several standout wedding venues, many of them within walking distance of each other. Here are some that couples love:
Historic homes and halls
- Kimball Hall — A historic 1880s Queen Anne house on Mimosa Boulevard that’s been beautifully renovated for weddings and events. It seats up to 200 guests with both indoor and outdoor ceremony options, a new courtyard, and cross-back chairs that look stunning in photos. In-house catering and bar service make planning simpler. It’s part of the Little River Farms venue group.
- Primrose Cottage — The first permanent home in the Roswell colony, right on Mimosa Boulevard. If you want Southern charm with genuine history, this is the real deal. The grounds are lovely for ceremonies and the cottage itself has a warmth that feels personal, not commercial.
- Naylor Hall — A stately venue on Canton Street with elegant indoor and outdoor spaces. Its location right in the heart of downtown Roswell means your guests are steps from restaurants and shops — perfect for a rehearsal dinner the night before or a brunch the morning after.
Waterfront venues
- Roswell River Landing — A charming city-owned venue right on the Chattahoochee River with an observation deck that’s perfect for ceremonies and photos. It accommodates up to 180 guests and is a raw-space venue, which means you bring in your own caterer and vendors — giving you maximum flexibility. Starting at $2,000, it’s also one of the more budget-friendly venue options in the area.
Best time of year
Roswell is close enough to Atlanta to share its climate, but the tree-lined streets and river make it feel cooler:
- March through May is gorgeous — azaleas and dogwoods in bloom, comfortable temperatures, and longer days. The historic homes surrounded by spring flowers are picture-perfect.
- September through November is the most popular season. Mild weather, beautiful light, and no humidity. Book early — Roswell venues fill up fast for fall dates.
- Summer (June–August) is hot and humid. Indoor venues with good air conditioning or evening outdoor ceremonies work best.
- Winter weddings can be lovely in Roswell — the historic homes look beautiful dressed up for the holidays, and you’ll often find better availability and pricing.
Practical things to think about
- Parking: Downtown Roswell has public parking lots and street parking, but for larger weddings, talk to your venue about overflow options. Some couples arrange shuttle service from a nearby hotel to keep things simple.
- Guest accommodations: There are several hotels along GA-400 and Holcomb Bridge Road, within 10–15 minutes of most Roswell venues. For a more local feel, look into B&Bs or vacation rentals in the historic district.
- Rehearsal dinners: Canton Street is ideal — Table & Main, Osteria Mattone, and Salt Factory Pub are all popular choices. Having your rehearsal dinner within walking distance of your venue makes the whole weekend flow better.
- Photo opportunities: Beyond the venues themselves, Roswell has incredible photo locations — the Chattahoochee River, Vickery Creek and the old mill ruins, the historic homes along Mimosa Boulevard, and the Canton Street streetscape. Your photographer will thank you.
- Vendor flexibility: Roswell is well-served by the North Atlanta vendor community. Caterers, florists, photographers, and DJs in this area are experienced and professional. If you’re using a raw-space venue like Roswell River Landing, you’ll have no trouble finding great vendors.
