Wedding Venues in Marietta, Georgia: From the Square to the Countryside

There’s something about Marietta that makes weddings feel grounded — in a good way. The historic Square, the tree-lined streets, the mix of Southern tradition and modern energy. It’s a place where your wedding can feel both elegant and real, without having to choose between the two.

I’ve coordinated weddings throughout the greater Atlanta area, and Marietta always stands out for the warmth of its community and the versatility of its venues. Whether you’re drawn to the Square or the surrounding Cobb County countryside, here’s what you need to know about planning a wedding here.

Why couples love Marietta

Marietta is the county seat of Cobb County, about 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. But it feels like its own place — not a suburb, not a satellite. The historic Marietta Square is the heart of it: restaurants, shops, the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, and a genuine sense of community that makes guests feel welcome the moment they arrive.

For weddings, Marietta offers a rare combination. You can have a reception overlooking the Square, then your guests can walk to dinner the night before at one of the nearby restaurants. The proximity to Atlanta means easy access to the airport and hotels, but the downtown feels distinctly its own. It’s close without feeling cookie-cutter.

There’s also real variety in venue styles. From industrial-chic spaces to historic downtown buildings, Marietta gives you options that range from modern and clean to classic and character-filled.

Venues worth knowing about

Marietta has a growing wedding venue scene, with options that suit different styles and budgets:

Modern and industrial

  • Brick and Ivey — A 6,000 square foot white brick event space at 1440 Roswell Road, part of the Little River Farms venue group. The outdoor courtyard is perfect for ceremonies, and the interior is clean, bright, and versatile. They offer in-house catering and bar service, plus a private after-hours space next door for keeping the party going. Bridal suites and a groomsman area (complete with TVs, putt-putt, cornhole, and bar games) are included.

Historic and downtown

  • The Brickyard Marietta — A historic downtown venue with character and versatility. The exposed brick and industrial touches give it personality, while the location near the Square makes logistics easy for guests. It’s a venue that photographs well without needing much extra decoration.
  • Marietta Square Events — Right on the charming Marietta Square, this venue puts you in the heart of downtown. There’s something special about having your reception with the energy of the Square just outside — it makes the whole evening feel alive.

Best time of year

Marietta’s climate follows the Atlanta metro pattern, but with the benefit of beautiful mature trees throughout the historic district:

  • September through November is the sweet spot — comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and beautiful light for photos. The Square and surrounding streets look their best in fall.
  • March through May brings flowering dogwoods and azaleas. Spring weddings in Marietta are lovely, though afternoon rain showers are possible.
  • Summer (June–August) is hot and humid. If you’re planning a summer wedding, prioritize venues with good air conditioning or plan for an evening outdoor ceremony.
  • Winter is an underrated choice — the Square is decorated for the holidays, venues have better availability, and indoor celebrations feel cozy and intimate.

Practical things to think about

  • Parking: Downtown Marietta has public parking garages and surface lots near the Square. For larger weddings, your venue can usually guide you on the best options. Some couples arrange shuttle service from nearby hotels.
  • Guest accommodations: There are several hotels along the I-75 corridor and in the Kennesaw/Town Center area, all within 10–15 minutes of downtown Marietta. Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center is a popular choice for room blocks.
  • Rehearsal dinners: The Square has excellent options — Thaicoon & Sushi Bar, Stockyard Burgers & Bones, and The Marietta Local are all within walking distance of most downtown venues.
  • Day-before activities: Guests visiting from out of town will love the Marietta Square — the shops, the Strand Theatre, and the Marietta Museum of History are all walkable. Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is just a short drive away for anyone who wants to stretch their legs.
  • Vendor access: Marietta is well within the Atlanta vendor market, so you’ll have excellent options for every category — catering, florals, photography, entertainment. Competition keeps quality high and pricing reasonable.
