2400 On The River: A Riverfront Garden Wedding Venue in North Georgia

2400 On The River is an owner-operated wedding estate at 2400 Pleasant Hill Road in Ranger, Georgia, on the banks of the Coosawattee River near Calhoun, about halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga. In a region full of barn venues, it stands apart: think manicured boxwood gardens, a domed garden gazebo, a gazebo by the water, fountains and ponds, a stone-and-timber Main Lodge and a riverfront pavilion with a stone fireplace. It feels more like a European estate garden than a North Georgia barn, and you can hold your ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing all on the property.

I’m Michelle Lewis of Ever Weddings, the official wedding coordinator for 2400 On The River. Tours are by appointment, and I lead every one myself. Email me at [email protected] to book yours.

What makes 2400 On The River different from North Georgia barn venues?

North Georgia does barns beautifully: string lights, plank floors and a mountain view. 2400 On The River is something else. It’s a landscaped estate, and the grounds are as much a part of the wedding as the buildings.

Here’s what the venue and its couples describe:

  • Formal gardens. The venue’s own site points you to the boxwood gardens for cocktails. Reviewers describe an “English garden” and “English-style gardens.”
  • Gazebos in the garden and by the water. The venue’s signature ceremony spot is “the gazebo overlooking the water.” There’s more than one: an open, domed ironwork gazebo framed by formal gardens, and a wooden gazebo on a dock at the water’s edge.
  • Water everywhere. You’ll find the river, a waterfall beside the pavilion, fountains and ponds.
  • Architecture with a story. There are Greek-style pillars, stone arches, stained-glass windows in the lodge, and pieces reviewers say were “collected from all over the world.”
  • More than one building. The property is spread across several buildings and outdoor rooms, so every part of the day can have its own setting. You’ll see a stone-and-timber lodge, a green iron-and-glass greenhouse and stone buildings set among the boxwoods.

Couples say it better than I can:

“From the English-style gardens to the scenic pond and fountain to the rustic elegance of the “barn” to the peaceful river and waterfall next to the covered pavilion–2400 offers an unforgettable setting for any special occasion.” (Helen S., The Knot / WeddingWire)

“The main building feels like part Bavarian countryside and part English manor–with a touch of Middle Earth ambiance.” (Helen S., The Knot / WeddingWire)

“The architecture is gorgeous and pristine landscaping. The property has several water features as well as a very large deck overlooking the river.” (Missy R., The Knot)

In my opinion, if you’ve toured five barns and none of them felt like you, this is the place to see next. It’s a great fit if you want a garden ceremony, photos that look like a European estate and grounds your guests will want to wander.

Where is 2400 On The River? Directions and drive times to this North Georgia wedding venue

You’ll find it at 2400 Pleasant Hill Road, Ranger, GA 30734, in Gordon County. The venue describes itself as sitting in “Northwest Georgia’s historic high country,” on the banks of the Coosawattee River in the foothills of the Appalachians. The Knot and WeddingWire both place it “near Calhoun.”

Sitting about halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga, it’s an easy drive for guests from either city, from I-75 towns like Calhoun and Dalton, and from the mountains around Ellijay, Jasper and Talking Rock.

Directions: put the full street address into your map app, or open directions in Google Maps. Put the full address on your wedding website too, so guests aren’t searching for “2400.”

How long is the drive? These are rough guides. Times vary with traffic, so allow extra time on Friday afternoons and in leaf season.

  • Calhoun (I-75 hotels): about 30 minutes
  • Dalton, Ellijay and Jasper: under an hour
  • Chattanooga: about an hour and a quarter
  • Downtown Atlanta: under two hours

Flying in? The closest big airports are Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA), about an hour and a quarter away, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), about two hours away, or more with traffic. Calhoun also has Tom B. David Airport, a small local airport, for anyone flying privately.

Getting around on the day: the property is spread out. The Knot lists it as handicap accessible, and one couple wrote that “everywhere we needed to be was in close proximity and accessable for handicapped guests.” If you have older guests or anyone who needs a step-free route, tell me. On your tour, I’ll show you the parking and the easiest paths between the gardens, the lodge and the pavilion.

What ceremony and reception spaces does 2400 On The River have?

The venue lays out a wedding day like this, and most couples use the whole property:

  • Ceremony: under the gazebo overlooking the water, or a fireside ceremony on the riverfront pavilion. Reviewers describe the gazebo as lakeside or by a pond.
  • Cocktail hour: your “choice of locations,” including the boxwood gardens. One couple held cocktails on the pavilion.
  • Dinner: the Main Lodge. Reviewers love its stained-glass windows, antique doors and a vintage bar.
  • Dancing: back on the riverfront pavilion. It looks over the river and a waterfall and has an outdoor stone fireplace (reviewers mention a chandelier, too). The venue promotes its “breathtaking sunset vistas.”
  • Getting ready: the bridal solarium, a greenhouse-style suite with a private restroom.
  • Behind the scenes: a catering kitchen for staging, indoor and outdoor fireplaces and an indoor and outdoor audio system.

The venue’s WeddingWire listing shows 4 event spaces, with indoor, covered outdoor and uncovered outdoor settings.

“We exchanged vows at the Gazebo with the amazing views of the lake and it could not have been more dreamy. The lodge for dinner has so much character and really fit our overall style and it has so much history. And those stained glass windows and the doors ARE EVERYTHING! The pavilion was a lovely, massive space for our cocktail hour that showcased the beautiful sunset on the river and also served as our dance floor.” (Ashley L., The Knot)

Because the day moves between several spaces, the timing of each move is what makes it feel easy for your guests. I write every move into the timeline: who walks guests from the gazebo to the gardens, when the lodge must be dinner-ready, and when the pavilion turns into the dance floor.

More than a venue: what makes 2400 fun for the whole wedding party?

This is the part couples don’t expect. 2400 is a whole property to explore, not one room and a lawn, and that changes how the morning feels.

  • Bass fishing while everyone gets ready. The property has water stocked with bass, so the groom’s crew can spend the morning fishing while the bride’s crew gets ready in the solarium. It keeps a restless group happy and out of the hair-and-makeup room. We’ll work it in when we plan your morning.
  • A place for the groom’s crew. Reviewers have described a groomsmen suite with a balcony overlooking the lake, and suits of armor on display. I’ll show you where the guys get ready on your tour.
  • A private bridal hideaway. The greenhouse-style bridal solarium sits apart from the rest of the property.
  • A Rolls Royce ride. The venue’s own listings describe a Rolls Royce with a driver to take you around the property. Ask me how to work it into your arrival, your exit or a photo stop.
  • A rope bridge and a brick pizza oven. One couple found both on the grounds.
  • Ruins, stone arches and a tree-lined walk. The venue’s WeddingWire photo captions mention all three, so your photographer will have plenty to work with.
  • Your dog can come. The venue’s WeddingWire listing says it’s pet friendly, and one couple’s dog spent the whole day with them. Tell me early if your dog is in the wedding.

Two couples described the extras:

“They have a greenhouse bridal suite, Greek pillars, English garden, water features (waterfall, fountains, small ponds, and of course the river), and even a rope bridge that leads to a brick pizza oven.” (Amy L., WeddingWire / The Knot)

“It’s tucked away at the top of the hill, hidden from anyone so the bride and her girls have the utmost privacy as they get ready.” (Taylor M., The Knot, on the bridal suite)

When I build your timeline, these extras get scheduled like everything else: the guys are off the water, dressed and at photos on time, and the Rolls Royce is parked where your photographer needs it.

How much does a wedding at 2400 On The River cost, and what’s included?

The venue is finalizing its packages, so I’m not listing venue prices or inclusions here that could change. Email me at [email protected] and I’ll send you current pricing. Here’s what I can tell you now:

  • Venue-only and full-package options are available. I’ll walk you through current packages, what’s included and pricing on your tour or by email.
  • Full-package couples get coordination with me as part of the package.
  • Venue-only couples can still choose me as their coordinator. See Who coordinates weddings at 2400 below.
  • The property itself has the gardens, gazebos, Main Lodge, riverfront pavilion, bridal solarium and catering kitchen, and you’ll see all of them on your tour.

What does coordination cost at 2400? Coordination with me is included in the venue’s full package. If you rent the venue only, my partial planning is a flat $2,000, with no travel fee at 2400. Optional decoration and clean-up add-ons are available. For how coordinator pricing works in general, see how much a wedding coordinator costs in Georgia.

Can we bring our own vendors? Couples who married at 2400 say the venue let them bring their own caterers, florists and other vendors and worked well alongside them. Ask me about current vendor policies when we talk packages.

How many guests can 2400 On The River hold?

2400 hosts both large and small weddings. With several indoor and outdoor spaces, the property can feel full of life for a big guest list or cozy for an intimate one. Two reviewers put it this way:

“We had a little over 150 guest, and it was more than spacious.” (Jeff B., on an engagement party, The Knot)

“This venue was perfect for a small intimate wedding.” (Amanda D., The Knot)

Tell me your guest count when you book your tour, and I’ll show you how the spaces work for your number.

When is the best time of year for a wedding at 2400 On The River?

2400 On The River is open to bookings year-round. The venue’s WeddingWire listing names March, April, May, September, October and November as peak season, and January, February, June, July, August and December as off-peak. If you have a spring or fall date in mind, email me early to check it.

Two things to plan around, whatever the season:

  • Your sunset. The riverfront pavilion is where the venue promotes its sunset views, so I time the couple-photo break and the move to the dance floor around it.
  • Your guests’ drive. Allow extra time on Friday afternoons and in leaf season.

Sunset at the venue (approximate, on the 15th of each month):

Month Sunset Month Sunset
March 7:46 PM August 8:26 PM
April 8:10 PM September 7:45 PM
May 8:34 PM October 7:04 PM
June 8:53 PM November 5:34 PM (after the time change)
July 8:52 PM December 5:29 PM

Trees and hills can hide the sun a little early. Check your date with the NOAA Solar Calculator.

What happens if it rains at 2400 On The River?

You have real options. Dinner is already indoors in the Main Lodge, and the riverfront pavilion is covered. Couples say the mix of covered and indoor spaces took the worry out of the weather:

“It was really nice having the entire property to ourselves for the entire day and with the covered/indoor options there no need to fret about bad weather.” (Christina C., The Knot)

On your tour, I’ll show you which space would host your ceremony in the rain and how the switch works.

Here’s what I do for every outdoor ceremony:

  1. Write both versions into the timeline: the gazebo plan and the covered plan, with chair counts for each.
  2. Set a decision time, and tell every vendor when they’ll hear the call.
  3. Make the call with you, then handle the rest. You don’t call the florist or the DJ. I do.

More in my rain plan guide.

What does a wedding day at 2400 On The River look like?

Here’s a sample timeline for a Saturday with a 5:00 PM ceremony. The times are an example, not a rule. I build the real one with you around your vendors, your photographer and your sunset.

Time (example) What’s happening
Morning Hair and makeup in the bridal solarium. The groom’s crew heads out to fish for bass
Late morning The venue’s event manager receives deliveries. I confirm arrival times with every vendor
A little after lunch Photos start. Details first (dress, rings, invitations), then getting-ready shots
1:00–3:00 PM Vendors arrive, 2 to 4 hours before the ceremony, depending on what each one sets up (florals, catering, DJ)
Mid-afternoon First look option: couple photos in the gardens, by the gazebo and on the pavilion, then the wedding party
4:30 PM Guests arrive
5:00 PM Ceremony at the gazebo overlooking the water
5:30 PM Cocktail hour in the boxwood gardens. No first look? Couple and family photos happen now
6:30 PM Dinner in the Main Lodge, then toasts
Around sunset A short couple-photo break on the riverfront pavilion
Evening Dancing on the riverfront pavilion, then your exit (the Rolls Royce?)
End of the night Breakdown and load-out by the venue’s end time

Two things shape the whole day:

  • First look or not. With a first look, you’ll take couple photos before the ceremony and can enjoy most of cocktail hour. Without one, those photos happen during cocktail hour.
  • Your venue time. Setup, the ceremony, the reception and breakdown all have to fit inside your rental time, and I build the timeline around whatever your package includes. For the full build, see How to Create Your Wedding Day Timeline.

Planning a 2400 On The River wedding: what to do when

Most couples book me 6 to 12 months before the wedding, and I’ve worked with couples who booked a few weeks out. Here’s how planning usually goes at 2400:

When What happens
As early as you can Tour the property with me and check your date. We’ll talk through venue-only and full-package options
Once you book Consultations start. You can reach me whenever you want while you plan: vendor questions, layout ideas, guest flow between the spaces
Next Book your big vendors (photographer, caterer, florist, DJ or band) and a hotel room block in Calhoun
A few months out Details and timeline. We go through everything, and I build the timeline around your venue time, your rehearsal and your sunset
The final weeks I become your vendors’ main point of contact, so their questions don’t land on you
Rehearsal I run it, so everyone knows where to stand and when to walk
Wedding day I run the day, from setup through the last dance

For the hour-by-hour version, see How to Create Your Wedding Day Timeline, and for what to look for in any coordinator, my guide to hiring a North Georgia wedding coordinator.

Who coordinates weddings at 2400 On The River?

I do! I’m Michelle Lewis of Ever Weddings, the official wedding coordinator for 2400 On The River. My home base is in the Talking Rock area, about 15 minutes from the venue, so 2400 is practically in my backyard. The venue’s event manager looks after the property and receives deliveries. I look after you, your vendors and your timeline.

My first 2400 weddings are on the calendar for spring 2027, and I can’t wait to see a couple say “I do” in those gardens. The venue is open to bookings year-round, so whatever season you’re dreaming of, email me to check your date.

My approach is partial planning. You get consultations whenever you want them while you plan, so I’m not walking in on the wedding weekend trying to take over plans I know nothing about. Here’s how it works:

  1. A first chat about your date, your guest count and how you picture the day across the gazebo, gardens, lodge and pavilion.
  2. Consultations while you plan, with unlimited communication from booking on. Bring me vendor questions, layout ideas and “is this normal?” moments.
  3. Details and timeline, a few months out. We go through everything, and I build the timeline around your venue time, your rehearsal and your sunset.
  4. Vendor contact. I become your vendors’ main point of contact, so their questions don’t land on you.
  5. Rehearsal. I run it, so everyone knows where to stand and when to walk.
  6. The wedding day, from setup through the last dance.

Two ways to work with me at 2400:

  • Full package: coordination with me is included in the venue’s full package, so there’s nothing extra to book. We start planning as soon as you sign with the venue.
  • Venue-only rental: book me separately for a flat $2,000, with no travel fee at 2400. Optional decoration and clean-up add-ons are available if you want them, and I’ll quote those up front.

I take one wedding per weekend. I’ve coordinated weddings since 2014 and have 172 five-star reviews. I’m a past WeddingWire Couples’ Choice winner (2019–2024) and a member of The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame.

“She helps you plan and gives recommendations throughout the whole wedding planning process. She will be involved as much or as little as you need during each stage. On the day of the wedding, she will insure everything goes smoothly and coordinate with all vendors, so you don’t have to.” (Jess L., Ever Weddings review)

“She was able to plan a last minute switch to an indoor facility when it rained on our wedding day, and I’m completely sure our day would have been ruined (if not completely stressed) without her help.” (Kaitlyn T., Ever Weddings review)

How do we book a tour of 2400 On The River?

Tours are by appointment only, and I lead them myself, so you’ll walk the property with the person who’ll run your wedding day. To book, email me at [email protected] with:

  • Your preferred wedding date (or season) and a backup
  • Your rough guest count
  • Whether you’re thinking venue-only or the full package
  • Two or three times that work for a tour

I’ll confirm a time and walk you through the whole property: the gardens, the gazebos, the lodge, the pavilion and the bridal solarium. As we go, I’ll show you how your day would flow from space to space.

Bring these questions on your tour:

  • Which space is the ceremony rain plan, and when do we decide?
  • What do the current packages include, and how long is our rental time?
  • Can we bring our own vendors?
  • How many guests sit for dinner in the Main Lodge?
  • When can we hold our rehearsal?
  • Can the groom’s party fish, and what should they bring?
  • Is the Rolls Royce available for our exit or photos?
  • Is there any lodging on the property?

Where should our guests stay near 2400 On The River?

Calhoun is the closest hotel hub, about 30 minutes away off I-75. Gordon County’s visitor bureau lists hotels including Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Home2 Suites by Hilton, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Comfort Inn & Suites, La Quinta, Spark by Hilton and others, all “less than a mile off of Interstate 75.” See the full list at Explore Calhoun-Gordon.

    A few tips:

    • Book a room block early, especially for spring and fall dates, when North Georgia hotels fill up fast.
    • Guests coming from the mountains can stay in Ellijay or Jasper, and guests coming from the north can stay in Dalton. All three are under an hour away.
    • Shuttle: with a 30-minute drive back to Calhoun, a hotel shuttle keeps everyone safe after the reception. I’ll put pickup and drop-off times in the timeline, and we’ll sort out where shuttles drop off and park.

If your guests are making a weekend of it, they won’t run out of things to do:

    • Carters Lake (about 25 minutes). The Army Corps of Engineers calls it “one of the most scenic lakes in the southeast.” It’s the deepest of Georgia’s reservoir lakes, fed by the same Coosawattee River that runs past the venue. Guests can boat, fish, picnic and camp there.
    • New Echota State Historic Site (about 20 minutes). This was the capital of the Cherokee Nation, where the Trail of Tears officially began. It has 12 original and reconstructed buildings, a visitor center with a film, and a 1.5-mile nature trail.
    • Historic downtown Calhoun. Guests can browse the boutiques, catch a show at the GEM Theatre, visit the Harris Arts Center and the Rock Garden, or head to the Calhoun Outlet Marketplace.
